This import collection of the essential dance songs filling European dancefloors for the first half of 2005 has a lot of songs that are still pumping out from danceclub speakers worldwide. And as is often the case, some of the songs are just starting to create major buzz here in the USA. Among the many standout tracks are such mid-2005 essentials as David Guetta's "The World Is Mine", Vinylshakerz' inescapable redo of "One Night In Bangkok", Marcus Levin's "2 Take Me Away" that makes great use of Toto's classic "Africa", Ziggy X's tribute to club culture's favorite party favor "X Rules", Dave Armstrong's version of the Hall & Oates classic "Out of Touch", plus DJ Deekline's very different reworking of the Prodigy's "Outta Space", and we're sure you'll find your own favorites among the other hits too. While most of the tracks are straight-forward eurotrance or techno style, a nice surprise for us was an extended section on disc 2 that we can only describe as a discofied treat with several tracks that have a distinct 70's flavor updated with a modern house vibe, including Matt Siaz's funky "Groove Sensation", Jimmy Sommerville's ultra-smooth version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", and the White Doves electro-ish version of "Funkytown". 39 tracks total.
